  The Icicles Bench Project

Bridge Art Project

Kicking Horse Rendering

ICICLES

This piece of public art started as one of three designs chosen by the Whistler Municipality. The bench will be permanently displayed on Franz's Trail at Whistler Creek. The design was a collaboration between Denis Cook and Sharon Jensen, its icicle motif celebrates winter in Whistler. The simplified organic ice forms, made of metal and glass, evoke a winter sense of ice and cold. Commissioned by the Intawest Corporation in 2003 the bench will not be in place until later in 2004. Denise Cook is a Whistler landscape architect and designer.

THE BRIDGE ART PROJECT

In 2001 Sharon and five other local artists were commissioned by The Resort Municipality of Whistler. Sharon's painting would cover a 6' by 2.5' canvas. The original was printed on a waterproof material at double the size.

The print is currently displayed on the pedestrian overpass in the Village.

The R.M.O.W. also provided a description of the artist and the project:

    THE KICKING HORSE RENDERING

Sharon worked with plans and colour schemes from the designers to create this accurate water colour. Here are some examples of how Sharon's first professional rendering was used to market unfinished vacation homes:
